Chinni Prakash is a veteran Indian film choreographer, best known for his significant contributions to Hindi cinema, particularly during the 1990s. Starting his career as an assistant, he gained his first full-fledged choreographic credit in the film 'Khandan'. He initially worked in a pair with Sampath, contributing to films like 'Ram Aur Shyam' and 'Haathi Mere Saathi'. After a brief hiatus, he made a strong comeback as a solo choreographer with 'Hero Hiralal' and rose to immense popularity with the iconic 'Jumma Chumma' from 'Hum'. He became a favourite choreographer for stars like Akshay Kumar and Govinda, delivering numerous hit dance moves in films such as 'Mohra', 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari', 'Coolie No. 1', and 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'. He is particularly renowned for his ability to manage large crowds of background dancers. Chinni Prakash is a recipient of the National Film Award for 'Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah' from 'Jodha Akbar' and multiple Filmfare Awards for Best Choreography. He also received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for 'Thavasi'. His wife, Rekha Chinni Prakash, is also a choreographer, and he mentored his niece, Vaibhavi Merchant, who later achieved fame as a choreographer.
