Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu, widely known as Mohan Babu, is an accomplished Indian actor, film producer, and educationalist, predominantly working in Telugu cinema. He began his career as a Physical Education Instructor before making his acting debut in 1974. His major breakthrough came with 'Swargam Narakam' (1975) directed by Dasari Narayana Rao, who also changed his name to Mohan Babu. He transitioned from playing successful villain and comedy-villain roles to becoming a leading actor in over 500 films. As a producer, he owns Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures, 24 Frames Factory, and Manchu Entertainment, having produced around 40 films, many of which were successful, including the blockbuster 'Major Chandrakanth' (1993). Beyond cinema, he is a prominent educationalist, having founded the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust in 1993, which later evolved into Mohan Babu University in 2022, where he serves as Chancellor. His contributions to film and education have earned him the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2007, a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South in 2015, and honorary doctorates from renowned universities.
